National Parks In Krabi

Krabi is best known for its beautiful scenery, clear waters and adventure sports. However, there’s one more thing that people visiting Krabi need to know; Krabi is the Province that offers a splendid beauty of flora and fauna. Krabi and surrounded areas offer well-maintained and beautiful National Parks. These parks offer wildlife safaris, kayaking, hiking and camping. Here is the list of some national parks that you can visit in this Province.

Khao Phanom Bencha National Park

This national park is best known for its largest waterfall, known as Nam Tok. It offers a pleasant hiking trail of 10 km starting from Khao Phanom District Headquarters. It is also famous for having one of the largest caves in the country, called Tham Khao Ping. This beautiful cave is filled with stalactite and stalagmite formations.

Hat Nopparat Thara National Park

This park was formed during the Jurassic Period. The whole area is called called Susaan Hoi, depicting the shell cemetery where the fossilized shells are seen in situ, sitting just as they were millions of years ago. In fact, there are only two spots in the world where you can see this beautiful creation of nature and Hat Napporat Thara is one of them.

Bang Kram Wildlife Sanctuary

This park boasts varied species of birds, animals and tropical vegetation. Located next to Khao Noi Churchi, it is one of the best places for bird watching in Thailand. This sanctuary also boasts the last remains of lowland rainforest offering glimpses of indigenous fauna that is hard to find elsewhere in the world. This sanctuary is home to different types of Gurneys, Kingfishers, Hornbills, Partridges and rare Gurney’s Pitta.

Klong Thom Hot Springs

Small and ascetic, this park hosts many hot-springs and other kind of natural formations. Prehistoric volcanic chambers produce thermal activity all year round forming these luxurious natural hot springs that give bathers ample of opportunities to heal most of their illnesses. These hot springs are known to cure many types of ailments such as arthritis, rheumatism, sciatica and skin problems.

Bokkharani National Park

This national park is a famous tourist spot where people like to spend their day away from all the hustle bustle of life. Bokkharani offers a little bit of everything such as seaside, limestone cliffs, thick forests, caves and huge waterfalls. You can find everything you would like to see in a national park. Since it is a busy place on weekends, visiting the park on weekdays will help you get a better glimpse, especially if you’re visiting first time.

All of the mentioned national parks and sanctuaries are open all year-round. The entry fee can cost around 400 baht. You can opt for a guided tour available at extra cost. Camping can only be done if permitted by the authorities.

The best time to visit national parks in Krabi is during high-season (when the weather is drier and cooler). However, the National Parks are open year-round and low season can be a good time to visit. As far as transportation is concerned, it is advised to book a private cab as there are not many options available for public transportation.
